PLATINA3 – Platform for the implementation of a future inland navigation action programme, has officially kicked-off.
This project aims to improve impact and broaden stakeholder engagement in support of transport research and innovation under the EU Horizon 2020.

IW-Net welcomes this new exciting project and gladly looks forward to a close cooperation in order to jointly work towards bringing forward European Inland Waterway Transport.

PLATINA3 addresses 4 priority topics for the success of IWT:

  • integration and digitalization of IWT in view of modal shift and synchro modality,
  • zero emission, automated and climate resilient fleet,
  • skilled workforce anticipating to zero-emission & automation,
  • smart & climate resilient waterway and port infrastructure with clean energy hubs.

PLATINA3 Team will organise interactive workshops, consultations and envisage a series of six international meetings, called the PLATINA3 Stage events. We warmly invite you to get involved in the work of PLATINA3 as much as possible and to participate in the events to learn all about the latest developments.

The 1st Stage event is scheduled for April 7th and 8th!

The PLATINA3 Budapest sessions, as the event is hosted by the Danube Commission, will provide a unique opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and policymakers.
Please take a look at the final agenda to get an idea of the variety of topics covered in-depth.

You will be able to virtually attend keynote speeches by the newly-elected President of the Danube Commission, high-ranking representatives of the European Commission and from the Danube countries, members of the European Parliament and from the business community. The opening session will be followed by 7 thematic sessions, addressing key challenges and opportunities in inland navigation such as the transition to zero-emission shipping, the integration of inland navigation into supply chains, and smart waterways and autonomous navigation.

The 2nd Stage event is planned to take place on 19th and 20th of October in Strasbourg, where we can hopefully meet each other in person: save the dates!

We hope to meet you virtually soon!

On behalf of Martin Quispel (EICB, PLATINA3 project coordinator) & Manfred Seitz (Director General of the Secretariat of Danube Commission, host),
