Inland navigation and COVID-19

Inland navigation, as all modes of freight transport, belongs to the critical infrastructure and was therefore affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
In the research project “Inland navigation in times of crisis”, which was carried out within the framework of the REWWay (Research and Education in Inland Waterway Transport) cooperation between the University of Applied Science Upper Austria and viadonau, the effects of the COVID-19 crisis on inland navigation in Austria were surveyed.

The aim was to identify the strengths and weaknesses of inland navigation during the COVID-19 crisis to contribute to a better preparation for future crises.
