The online IW-NET Modal Shift Case Study workshop will take place on March 23, 2023, from 9:oo to 12:00.

This insightful case study was developed by the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in the frame of Work Package 5, T5.2 “IW-NET training content package and skills development”.

The case study addresses the development of eco-friendly transport strategies, focusing on inland navigation as a sustainable and efficient mode of transport. It is based on a real-life example of a shipping company that plans to shift transport volumes from road to eco-friendly modes of transport between Austria and Romania.  To this end, the shipping company provides realistic shipping data.  The data is analyzed with regard to cost and emission comparisons.

During this workshop, the application of the case study will be taught with a first joint calculation aiming to provide insights into the planning and execution of transports on inland waterways, especially on the Danube. Another major focus is to provide an understanding of the methodology of transport emission calculation according to the GLEC framework.
