IW-NET project took part at the ๐๐ป๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ช๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ธ and shared its vision with the community. The presentation, done by Zisis Palaskas “๐๐ช-๐ก๐๐ง: ๐๐ป๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ป๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ,” focused on the importance of exploiting inland waterway transportation to meet the European Commission’s targets for reducing GHG emissions from transportation in the upcoming decades.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other industry leaders and share insights on the latest EU-wide and national activities and initiatives to foster inland waterway transportation. We were particularly excited to see the synergies with other projects and learn about the latest developments in sustainable infrastructure management and innovative vessel technologies.
At IW-NET, we remain committed to supporting the EC’s strategic objectives by enabling and promoting strategic infrastructure development pathways and developing and testing technology innovations for the management of multimodally integrated IWT resources. We believe that by delivering a multimodal optimization process across the EU Transport System, we can increase the modal share of IWT and support the EC’s ambitions to reduce transport GHG emissions by two thirds by 2050.
We look forward to continuing the conversation with our colleagues and partners in the industry and driving forward the future of inland waterway transportation together.
